This type of therapy is performed with a muscle stimulation machine. An electrical stimulus is delivered to the treatment area to excite the muscles. The frequency of the stimulation can be altered to treat either acute (recent) pain or chronic (older) pain. The stimulation of the area releases hormones to help promote a natural pain blocker for the pain experienced.
