Chiropractic Techniques

Our office utilizes several different Chiropractic techniques, ranging from manual adjustment techniques like Diversified and Gonstead techniques, to low force adjustment techniques like Logan Basic, to instrument techniques like Activator technique, and table techniques like Cox Flexion/Distraction and Thompson Drop techniques. Dr. Bob believes that not all patients are suited for one single technique and his philosophy is to fit the technique to the patient and not the patient to the technique. He believes this is the reason why his office has such a high success rate in treating cases such as lower back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, mid back pain and many other conditions.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold Laser therapy, also known as low level laser therapy,  has been proven to be a safe and very effective method to promote healing. The laser device is FDA approved for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and has shown incredible promise for the treatment of other acute and chronic pain conditions.

The treatment uses a low level laser beam (also called cold laser) directed at the area of injury or pain. The laser light increases cellular energy by promoting the production of ATP which is the energy producing compound that keeps cells alive. Many degenerative diseases are associated with low levels of intracellular energy.

Laser therapy has many benefits both short term and long term. In the short term, laser therapy has powerful anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effects. It has been shown to increase blood flow, decrease inflammation, and release endorphins which help to control pain.

Long term effects include faster tissue repair and regeneration. Scientific studies show that tissues can repair themselves once favorable cellular conditions are restored.

Laser therapy is safe and effective. It will decrease pain, enhance your recovery, and help you get back to the life you deserve.

Electrical/Interferential Muscle Stimulation

This type of therapy is performed with a muscle stimulation machine. An electrical stimulus is delivered to the treatment area to excite the muscles. The frequency of the stimulation can be altered to treat either acute (recent) pain or chronic (older) pain. The stimulation of the area releases hormones to help promote a natural pain blocker for the pain experienced. Tissue healing and increased blood circulation is also a positive effect from muscle stimulation.

Ultrasound Therapy

The sound waves produced by the ultrasound pass through the skin and cause a vibration of the local tissues. This vibration or cavitation can cause a deep heating locally though usually no sensation of heat will be felt by the patient. Ultrasound can produce many effects other than just the potential heating effect. It has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown. The effect of the increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing.

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental Traction is a way of inducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility. It is a therapeutic modality which utilizes rollers along your back to produce motion at each individual joint segment.   It also creates a pumping action to the discs between the bones in your spine, resulting in a healthier disc.  An additional benefit, these rollers also vibrate which aids in muscle relaxation.

Diathermy

Diathermy is a therapeutic treatment most commonly prescribed for muscle and joint conditions.  A form of shortwave, electro-magnetic therapy that passes the softer tissues and provides heat to denser tissues, diathermy relaxes the muscles and connective tissues, decreases muscle spasms, and accelerates the healing process by increasing circulation. Diathermy can also be used to accelerate recovery and reduce pain in sports injuries such as bursitis, strains, and sprains.

Flexion/Distraction Decompression

This treatment is a non-surgical, doctor-controlled, hands on spinal manipulation performed with the patient lying face down on a specially designed chiropractic instrument. This table permits the effective administration of flexion/distraction and decompression adjustment and manipulation.

Well researched and documented, flexion-distraction and decompression helps relieve spinal pain and return patients to their desired quality of life by

• dropping intradiscal pressure to as low as -192mm Hg

• widening the spinal canal foraminal area by 28%

• reducing pressure on the spinal nerves

• returning motion to the spinal joints
